Basic course in clay plaster processing, with Stroba. Surface design, ornamentation
Clay earth is gaining ground in construction. This ingenious natural building material is also used in various forms on the building site of the Herzetappe 10 cooperative in Wald ZH. There are virtually no limits to its creativity when it comes to surface design. Aggregates for the finishing or decorative plaster, clay paints and ornamental options provide inspiration for individual designs. On the construction site, experts and experienced clay builders will demonstrate the techniques for processing the finishing plaster and applying various aggregates. Various ornamentation techniques and the historical background to the use of ornamentation in construction will be explained. Materials and equipment are available so that the techniques can be applied under the guidance of the experts and participants can try out their own creations.
Registration:
Through friendly contacts in Greece, it was possible to get students from the University of Ioannina and their professor Yannis Zavoleas interested in participating in our project.
During their 8-day visit to Wald, they were able to apply ornaments to clay on their own and acquire practical knowledge in exchange with craftswomen, architecture and construction management.
With this international expansion of our construction method, we want to promote education at universities and technical colleges. Students and professors were very impressed and will be happy to collaborate on the design of training sessions, workshops and courses.
